Saab Series Manual Boost Controller (SMBC)
By Admin

T5 and T-7 engines

The SMBC uses the same boost controller as the MBC but is made without a bleed port to allow it to be installed in series between the turbo and the boost pressure control unit. For those who don’t want to bypass the cars control unit, but would like to increase spool up time, or for cars that won’t tolerate a traditional install of a MBC due to advanced electronics in the car (eg Saab T-7 engines).

Benefits of a SMBC:

  • Faster boost rise times (reduced spool up time)
  • Livens up the lower gears
  • Does not change peak boost

This valve uses an industry tested pressure/vacuum relief valve with a 3/16” inlet and a ¼” outlet for better matching to the vacuum hoses in the car.

There is no bleed port on this valve which allows for a plug and play right from the box. No bleed port means no extra steps to block off the port. The valve is rated for 0-20psi.
