Welcome aboard.
Saab NG 900 (94 to 98 or 99 depending on country) has T5 engine mgt. If the DIC cassette under the hood, sitting between the two cams, is red, the car is T5. If the car is T%, you may use an atmospheric dump valve. If not T5 (that is to say, if T7 or T then you cannot use the dump valve. These later systems of engine mgt. use a MAF sensor upstream. This device will measure the air mass entering at the low pressure side. If you dump boost to atmosphere downstream of this the ECU cannot account for the differential between what the MAF told it and what it sees from readings given by other sensors during and after combustion. The result will be a CEL and less than optimum performance. |

| first time saab, check your existing dump valve, if it has 3 pipes attatched to it then its a recirculating type but if its only 2 pipes then its the standard type. If you go to partsforsaabs or Elkparts they will show you which one is correct for your model. Its a very good upgrade as the original dump valve is the plastic diapragm type that is prone to failure. The average price for a recirculating dump valve is £80-£100 for the saab. |
