DIY mesh grill
Print

The grill can easily be removed. Open the bonnet and you will find two clips holding the grill in place, unclip these and the grill will come out upwards.

Once removed unclip the black back of the grill from the chrome front. It can be a bit tricky and be careful that you do not break any of the plastic catches. You will need to insert mesh between these two parts. Suitable mesh can be found at automobile stores or an alternative is gutter guard found at most DIY shops. Some people prefer to paint the mesh black and others leave the mesh in aluminium. You will need to cut the mesh to size so that it fits between the black back and the chrome front, use gloves as the mesh is sharp, make sure three holes are cut so that the clips in the middle of the grill can still lock together. Once fitted re-secure the 2 parts of the grill together keeping the mesh in place between and fit the grill back onto the car.

Some people prefer to cut out the slats in the black part of the grill so that more air can flow through it but this will not make a significant difference unless you have chosen thick mesh with few holes. It will require the use of cable ties to secure the mesh and keep it stable. The choice as they say is yours...

This is a cheap and very stylish mod for your car and will give the front a more sporty and aggressive look. Well worth the little effort involved and cheaper and exactly the same as the same mod found on e-bay....
