Removing the turbo silencer

Removing the Turbo Silencer (not for HOT or Viggen Models)

This is a very easy task to complete. Although on it's own will not make a vast difference to performance it is an easy step towards aiding air flow to the engine and good experience for taking on bigger tasks in the future. The best thing about this mod is that it can be completed in approx. 30 mins and is free!

    Where is it?

The turbo silencer is inside of the aluminium pipe that exits from the turbo. It is a baffle made from plastic and causes a slight restriction of the air flow.

    How do I remove it?

It is easier to remove this pipe if the front of the car is lifted but can be performed with the car on the ground. The turbo silencer is in the aluminium tube between the turbo and the intercooler. Remove this pipe by undoing the clamps that hold it in place. The silencer will be found inside this behind a small lip to keep it in position. It will be best to keep the baffle in its complete state so that you could if required put it back in, but not essential. Prise apart the eight tabs so that it moves through past the lip of the pipe and gently pull the silencer out. Refit the pipe to the car and go for a test drive, you may find a slight increase in cabin noise.
